Emergency Overboard Ladder

~~~~~~~~~~~
Dispenser Storage Bag Mounts Horizontally or Vertically
Recently a mast mate customer of a year ago or so called and asked if I had developed any type of overboard emergency ladder based on the mast mate design. I had to say no, but of course the question got me thinking. The emergency overboard ladder is the result. A simple stowable but readily available emergency ladder packed into a quick release bag. The ladder is easily deployed from the water by simply pulling on the rip cord which opens the Velcro side of the bag and releases the ladder. The bag comes in blue only, is made of UV resistant material, has grommets on 2 sides and Velcro seams on the other 2 sides. The bag is 10 X 24 inches and is meant to be mounted on a life line or fixed rigging by simply weaving a 1/4in line [not included] through the grommets and around the chosen mounting point. The bag can be positioned horizontally or vertically.
The ladder itself is modeled after the mast mate with the exception that the double steps are at the bottom rather than the top. It is constructed of the same strong 2in nylon webbing with double reinforcing in the steps. At the top is a loop in the webbing for a line [not included] to be secured to the ladder and to a fixed anchoring object, such as a stanchion base. The bottom end has a grommet through which a line [not included] is secured to make a rip cord. When the ladder is stowed both lines are lead through the bags Velcro seam. The maximum freeboard at the point of deployment should be less than 5 feet.
The rip cord is meant to hang overboard within easy reach of someone in the water. The ladder is 5ft long and has three alternating single steps, 14 inches apart, and a double step at the bottom. The double step provides good footing to begin the climb as well as a good secure platform if the ladder is to be winched up by a crew member. As with the all Mast Mate products, the emergency overboard ladder has a full money back guarantee. Please inquire if you have  questions.
